ChristchurchNZ Joins E Tipu - The Boma Agri Summit As Host City Partner For Second Year

Held at Christchurch Town Hall and virtually over 21-22 June, E Tipu 2022: The Boma Agri Summit is focused on supporting Aotearoa’s food and fibre ecosystem to thrive in our changing world.

Backing the summit for a second consecutive year as Host City Partner is ChristchurchNZ.

The partnership sees ChristchurchNZ and E Tipu collaborating to boost the strength of the region’s primary sector and uplift local thought leaders and expertise. The food, fibre and agritech sector is one of Canterbury’s supernodes: industries of considerable regional strength with significant potential for sustainable economic growth. The region produces more than 20% of national agricultural exports, has New Zealand’s leading land-based university, and is home to Aotearoa’s largest tract of productive land and groundwater resources.

Boma New Zealand founder and CEO Kaila Colbin says, "Our ambition with E Tipu — to support the food and fibre sector to be more innovative, collaborative, sustainable and profitable — is directly aligned to that of ChristchurchNZ. Working together, we’ll be able to have a far greater positive impact.”

Our primary industries are front and centre for every major conversation about the critical issues shaping our future. As a national event with global reach, E Tipu is a catalyst for important dialogue and meaningful sector change, featuring eye-opening talks, interactive workshops, innovative exhibits and more. The summit propels action and tangible outcomes for the primary sector — connecting growers, innovators, youth, iwi, changemakers, technologists, educators, businesses and policymakers.

E Tipu 2022 will once again be hosting the finale showcase of this year’s Food, Fibre and Agritech Supernode Challenge. The Challenge looks to uncover innovative solutions to solve some of the food and fibre sector’s biggest challenges and to help New Zealand become more productive, sustainable and competitive.

Following day one of E Tipu 2022, summit attendees are invited to watch Challenge finalists present their disruptive ideas and find out which innovative teams are crowned the 2022 winners at the awards ceremony.

The Challenge is powered by ChristchurchNZ with the support of KiwiNet, Canterbury Mayoral Forum and delivery partners UC’s Centre for Entrepreneurship (UCE), ThincLab Canterbury and B.linc Innovation.

In addition to supporting acceleration in the sector, ChristchurchNZ works to cultivate a thriving future for the city and people of Ōtautahi — championing the region’s vibrancy, capacity for innovation, and economic competitiveness. With more than half of the 2022 summit’s attendees likely to reside outside of greater Christchurch, E Tipu offers a unique platform to showcase the region.

Boyd Warren, general manager of innovation and business growth at ChristchurchNZ says, ChristchurchNZ is proud to partner with E Tipu to present the Boma Agri Summit.

An event like this reinforces Canterbury’s reputation as a world leader in food and fibre innovation. It’s a fantastic opportunity for the region’s existing strength in the sector to grow, with bold and sustainable ideas that will create jobs, enhance productivity and prosperity,”
