Fairlie And Burkes Pass Walks
Fairlie marks the entrance to the Mackenzie District. Enjoy this rural township by foot and learn about the rich history that helped shape the pioneering settlement of the Mackenzie Country.
Jack Lovelock Memorial Track
Experience both suburban and rural Fairlie. Pass by sheep, cattle and alpaca farms along the way.

Start location:
Starting from Fairlie township, walk up School Road and then right onto Jack Lovelock track.
Fairlie River Walk
A pleasant and quiet walkway with easy terrain.
Duration of walk:
40 minutes one way.
Start location:
From Fairlie township, just before the Allandale Bridge walk past the Fairlie Top 10 Holiday Park. The walkway begins just past the Holiday Park on the right.
Opihi Walkway
A pleasant walk with occasional stops by the river bed with peaceful rural views and glimpses of mountain vistas along the way. The walk can be started at the Fairlie or Kimbell end, walk as far as you want and then return the same way.

Start location:
From Fairlie township, cross the Allandale Bridge and the walk starts on the left hand side. This is well signposted and displays the different sections of the walk.
Burkes Pass Heritage Walk
Get a glimpse of the rich history that helped shape the pioneering settlement of the Mackenzie Country.
There are various points of interest along the way including the Burkes Pass Gallery, musterers hut, stone house, school and school house, and cob cottages.

Start location:
The Heritage walk can be started at St Patricks Church where you can pick up a pamphlet with information on the walk, and from here, continue up to the cemetery. The walk itself starts on the other side of the road opposite the cemetery, and follows a mown track.
