The Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetu is home to one of New Zealand's most important public art collections. The gallery houses a collection from classics to modern art, and regularly showcases works from New Zealand and internationally based artists.
The building is a work of art in itself, with the glass facade resembling the flow of the Ōtākaro Avon River.
The gallery space is light and airy, located on two floors. On the ground floor, you'll find The Thirsty Peacock with a delicious menu and beautiful calm setting.
The gallery runs regular tours and events, including the always popular - "Introduction to the Gallery Tour".
The Gallery is located on the corner of Worcester Boulevard and Montreal Street open 7 days a week 10am - 5pm, with a late night on Wednesday's from 5 - 9pm.
