At the top of Muse Art Hotel, you’ll find Pink Lady, Christchurch’s first rooftop bar to open after the earthquakes. She's special in more ways than one.

At the corner of Manchester Street and High you’ll find Muse Art Hotel, while at the top of the hotel, you’ll find Pink Lady. As Christchurch’s first rooftop bar to open after the earthquakes, she's special in more ways than one.

Arrive at Muse and you’ll be greeted on the ground floor. If there’s space at Pink Lady you can head on up to the level 7 rooftop. If she’s full, you'll need to wait at the Residency on the ground floor, but never fear - drinks can be ordered straight away. So explore the Muse’s art as you sip - your turn won’t be far off.

Once you’re up above it all you’ll see that Pink Lady is chic yet relaxed, proud but intimate, inside but outside all at the same time. Glass paned on four sides, Pink Lady offers sweeping views of the city in all directions, and her vibe is reminiscent of peak 1960s Baja, California. Think all-day, sun-drenched pool parties with cosmos on demand.

Pink is, of course, the colour of choice here and it’s paired with clean white lines, a gleaming tiled bar and plenty of greenery. A singular palm tree sits on each of the deck’s four corners and symbolises what this place is all about - breezy days and summer fun paired with quality cocktails and companions.

Similar to sister spot, Seven  - Pink Lady loves to showcase local but with a uniquely international twist. Her food and drink draw inspiration from warm-year-round, beach towns but are constructed with the very best of what can be found in Canterbury.

On the drinks list, Pink Lady’s ‘Rooftop Ready Wines’ include top pours from North Canterbury wineries. Order by the glass or bottle, and rest assured, there are plenty of roses to choose from - they’ve even got their own list. Cocktails do steal the show, however, with numbers like the watermelon chilli margarita and ‘Ginger Gin’ made with gin sweet vermouth, pink grapefruit, lemon, ginger, and aged barrel bitters.

As you enjoy your bevies and bask in the sun, you’ll probably need some nibbles too. True to form, the plates at Pink Lady are fresh, punchy and easy to enjoy. From the rooftop guac, to Kokoda fish, and taco kits for the table - Pink Lady has all the treats that a world class rooftop requires.

Regardless of what table you end up at, you’ll be treated to stunning views of Ōtautahi. Even on average days, sundowners up here see warm pastel hues blanket the Port Hills, coastline, and city streets. It's this time of day and the building's original architect that is truly responsible for the name, Pink Lady. As a heritage building, this spot is already home to quite a few stories, but there is surely plenty more to be had. So head on up soon. You won't want to come down.
